Today was different, however.
Kaoru's heat wasn't supposed to kick in for another week. So he was safe as far as he knew. His suppressants sat in a drawer by his bed, and he didn't think too much about them.
At least not until an odd feeling twisted in his gut during class. It was a warmth pooling in his gut, and Kaoru knew what was happening before anything could really be kickstarted. He excused himself to the bathroom, bag slung over his shoulder as he quickly darted out of the classroom.
Kaoru had only dealt with one heat without his suppressants, and that was hell on earth to hide. In a school like this? No way he could do it.
He had a few choices, and none were good. He could be stuck in a bathroom all day (bad -- someone would sniff him out in a heartbeat), an empty classroom (what if someone walked in?), he could go home (bad -- his dad would know and the suppressants couldn't work their magic in time), or... he could hide in the club room?
That wasn't the worst idea. There wasn't meant to be a club meeting today, and he could just pray that no one walked in. Plus, Kanata was his friend. Right? They wouldn't give away his secret. And as much as Souma hated him, he was sure he'd keep the secret. So he should be safe. Ish. Kaoru made the split second decision and darted to the club room, closing the door behind him.
He dropped his bag in some corner, checking his phone was in his pocket, before he migrated to a corner of the room. It was pressed up against fishtanks that gave it a soft glow, and his movements were quick as he tried to give himself a little place to curl up. Already his scent was beginning to fill the room, and had he been any later he might have been caught in the hallway. The pillows from the couch were taken off, along with a blanket, and he managed to curl himself into a corner, sinking into the warmth and hidden comfort of the pillows, the soft blue light letting him relax.
